Kaboom!

Ooo...this is going to be fun, I can't see everything that I am typing (the blame goes to the monitor, it's been spastic lately)...I hope it turns out alright. So, this has been a very weird holiday season for me. Christmas came so fast that it has yet to hit me. If it wasn't for a song I heard in our annual ward program, I believe I wouldn't have felt any Christmas spirit at all. I love Christmas, but it was so rushed this year. On a happier note though, I received the coveted Star Wars dvd collection. That 4th disc is amazing! I've watched all of it, except for the stuff about the games and the tv spots. It's amazing how people put their whole life into something like that, just for our entertainment benfits.

Anyways. So, it is the end of one year, and the beginning of another. 2004 has been amazing, I can't wait to see what happens in 2005, even if it is full of tragedy and war, there is enough good to make it worth the trials. Can I just say....that tsunami in Indonesia....wow. Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed and the earth has literally been changed. ("The world is changed, I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air. All that once was, is lost") It's amazing; what can happen in a matter of moments can change an entire generation.

Well, enough of that right now. I hope you all have a wonderful New Year celebration. I'm stuck at home, waiting to watch Regis (he's subbing for Dick Clark, due to a recent stroke) with my family...what a wonderful tradition. :o) HAPPY NEW YEAR!
(Oh, and I might get to see real fireworks...depends if there's too much snow right now, I suppose)

Come one, come all

Yup, the thirtyfirst day of this month will go up in flames and smoke at midnight. I mean... uh... I haven't decided to do anything dangerous that has to do with fireworks on that night to celebrate. But hey, maybe I'll change my mind. Everybody come and see how things turn out.

Party begins 1900 hours sharp. I'm trying to throw together some games that involve thinking (not enough to make it un-fun).

Thanks for the sermon, Jarrett. This Christmas was a unique one for me. We did things a little different at my house. The parents slept through the night and the kids got up and impersonated Santa.

I had a job interview this morning which went rather well. The good news is that I will likely never work past 5 at the job and not on weekends either. Now I just have to figure out a schedule that will work between that, my other job, school, and everything else. Fun fun fun. Also, if I get the job, I'll be working with Aaron Chavez. How cool is that?

I tried to find it. But it's hard to know if you've found something if you don't know exactly what it looks like. Also, the fact that not too many places even sell anything like it doesn't help much.

The windows in this building are automated, noisy, and irresponsible. The just open and close whenever they feel like it.

Umkay. Now I'm done for a while.

Gotta love that Windows 95!

Okay, so I got the Mother of all Errors today.

I was running Windows 95 as a virtual machine to do some testing and suddenly I was met rather hastily with this Win3.1-esque error window that said:

Error loading Explorer.exe
You need to reinstall Windows.

The only button on the box was [OK]. Uh, no [Cancel]? No [Let's Try to Rethink Life]? Just [OK]. So I clicked [OK] and waited as the virtual machine froze up. I then shut down the virtual machine and then rebooted it. Fortunately, there is no harm done. Reinstalling a virtual machine isn't as big a deal as reinstalling a real machine, but it does take a long time. So, needless to say, I was relieved to discover that my Windows 95 virtual machine passed unscathed.

For those of you wondering "What the crap is a virtual machine?", I have a tidbit of information for you. A virtual machine is a machine that runs on another machine. For instance, on my computer at home, I run Windows Server 2003. But, to avoid having to have another computer, I have a virtual machine set up on my Windows Server which runs Windows XP. So, with the virtual machine concept, I essentially have a Windows XP computer that runs on a Windows Server 2003 computer. It makes it so that I can run Windows XP stuff without having to buy a separate computer for Windows XP. :)

May the Force be with you.

Cue the Russians!

(clap hands) didle-um didle-um didle-um dum dum,
and so forth.

Jon:
While I am dreadfully excited to hear that JÞII will be digitized, I am in Colorado all this week (until 12/29). So I won't be able to help this week. Maybe next.

Jessica: I know to an extent how you feel, and am sorry to hear it. Though I have no idea who you're talking about. OH, and your website gets better and better.

Merry Christmas to all, for as Isaiah wrote,
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
And again:
"How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!"
9:6 and 52:7, respectively.

Let us all sing, "Glory to God in the highest." For are there any gladder tidings than the coming of Our Lord to this earth?

"And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a Son, yea, even the Son of God.
And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people.
And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.
Now the Spirit knoweth all things; nevertheless the Son of God suffereth according to the flesh that he might take upon him the sins of his people, that he might blot out their transgressions according to the power of his deliverance."

Even as it was, so it is now and ever shall be -- sicut erat in principio, et in saecula saeculorum.

What then for us?
"Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly of heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
"Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."

Now, we can't be perfect as mortals. That comes much later. But, are we not commanded? Yes. How then are we to 'be perfect'? There, friends, is the Good News. Through Christ, we can be perfect, we can take the 'easy yoke.'

"Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall dent yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind, strength, then is his grace sufficent for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ."
And again:
"And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them."

So: Humble ourselves, and keep the commandments inasmuch as we can; and then is his grace sufficient -- but it isn't, "Do all you can, and then grace applies". Rather it is, "Come unto Christ -- take upon you His name, covenant with Him, and grace will apply immediately." Grace is of course divine aid, assisting us beyond our own strength: we cannot save ourselves, we cannot do everything all the time. But we can try, and we can come unto Christ; and then, we're okay. It's enough.

What do we do?
Well, there are lots of commandments. But:
"Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."

Love your neighbor. It's Christmas!

Anyway, that's my Christmas Eve sermon.

The choir and congregation will now sing, "Silent Night" in the Austrian Style.

Crashing cars and phone calls

How would it be to come out of a house to get in your car that you parked in front of the house only to find the car gone? Well, that is going to be the experience of some lucky Kaysvillian. His 1992 Honda CRX decided to go on a little trip all by itself. Unfortunately, for the car, it didn't have a good sense of direction and couldn't stay on the road. The poor thing ended up in the back yard easement of my office kissing the back bumper of a Tahoe.

Keep in mind, though, what the brave little car had to go through to get down there. First, it had to completely cross Main Street in Kaysville, which is a four-lane road with a median. It did all this without hitting any other cars actually driving on the road. Next, it had to jump up over the curb, miss a big tree in the front yard and careen down the front yard, which is a considerable grade. While coming down the hill in the front yard, it had to miss a bunch of small fruit trees and the telephone box. Then, the little car had to choose to hit the Tahoe rather than a house directly on the other side of the Tahoe. Meanwhile, the driver/owner of the car can't be found anywhere. The car did a solo act.

So, that was the excitement at my work today. How 'bout you? :)

~film review~

So, I saw National Treasure this weekend. First of all, I am not a fan of Nicholas Cage and the previews for the film had me completely uninterested. But, I was with a group of friends that went to see it and it was free for me, so I saw it. What an amazing film! I loved it! I guess I should listen to my own advice... don't pay attention to the previews, the movies aren't always what they are made out to be. I have to agree with Jon, though, it did have it's weakness of not really being plausible and people knew some of those things just off the top of their heads (yeah right, it's more like the script told them to say it), but it was still really good. I love how it weaves the clues in and out of the plot, it really keeps you on the edge. Well, anyways, I had to tell everyone what a fun movie that was. See it, you'll love it! Have a great week! (oh and Nicholas Cage wasn't his normal, weird character, he did a really good job)

Feelin' the weather

Hello, it's been awhile since I've written, so I figured that I would, since I have time right now. I called my mother last night and received some sobbering news about somebody I've know since I was little. One of my teachers passed away on Monday. I've never really experienced knowing someone so long and then finding out that they've passed on. It's amazing how hard it hit me (**I need a hug**). I'm just greatful for the knowledge that I have; that he's ok and that he'll be with his family again someday.

Wow, I'm about to cry again, I think I'll stop now. Anyways....

Isn't this crazy weather?! I walked outside to go to the lab, and it was raining! In the middle of December! I honestly think Utah's weather needs a psychologist or something.

Ok, so who's ready for finals?! (I'm not). I have come to the harsh realization that I am in college and it's not easy anymore. (laugh all you want, I will) I have a tough final every day of finals week, except for Friday, which is graduation and the high school honor band thing. I'm so excited about the honor band. Something weird happened at my high school, and about 5 kids decided that they wanted to go. I'm so glad to see that they're getting out to see bigger and better horizons. I'm so proud of them! ;) Anyways...I think I'll stop writing now. Have a great day and good luck to anyone who has any sort of final project or test that they may be worried about. TTFN!

A list of current events in the life and times of Ben

Come see two more book reviews for your (re)viewing pleasure.
How I hate this weather (now I walk through blizzards just to get us back together).
All school work is almost completed; talk to me on Friday and I'll be a happy, no-more-schooled man.
Just wish those Jazz could get their shooting touch back.
I love Hava.
I hate it when girls do that giggly-flirty laugh, especially with guys they know they'll never get.
Along the same tangent: A cerain basketball star was called when he was in Wisconsin and right after a game and the caller didn't even know... nice prank.
I have apparently proven myself to Dr. Root; now let's see him give me a scholarship.
I get to spend Christmas with Hava.
Jeremy Reeder struck gold and dug himself up a girlfriend.
A blanket of snow covers the once clean streets of Northern Utah.
I'm almost done with Lord of the Flies.
I'll be working close to 60 hours next week; good thing I don't have any finals that week.
I'm done with this list.

A Coming out party!

Dear one and few!
Ben's new blog has been started. Come and read book reviews to your heart's content... that is if you are content with just one. I put the first book that I logged on there way back from June '03. The blog will end up being really fun and a good update of books I've read. There is also a list of books that I've got (or almost got) in my possession and is on my list to read. So come and come back for future updates and to see if I've read your favorite book or if you're looking for a new book to read, stop on by. You can get to my new blog by a slightly uncomplicated series of links. First, follow the link to Ben's blog and from there follow the link to Ben's Reading list.
Or, if you are uber-lazy, then follow this link.
Thanks one and few for your support and whatnot.
Laters, yo.

Yup. Someone said South Disneyland!

Hey, guys! Happy day! I was able to pull the tiny shard of glass from my finger this morning after it had afflicted me for nearly three weeks. My finger definitely feels better with the piece of glass out of it.

Well, Andrew, I will just have to go on the Jungle Cruise and Indiana Jones a few times especially for you. Belive me, I will too. I went there in September and rode those rides a lot. The Jungle Cruise at night, I have been told, is really funny. We tried it, but our skipper wasn't that funny. I kept laughing really loudly at the jokes because no one else was. :) I'm taking my brother's digicam, so I'll be able to post pics of the place and our adventures there. When I went in September, that was the first time I had ever ridden on Indiana Jones and let me tell you, IT IS THE COOLEST RIDE!

I think I am done with this post for the time being. If I decide to come back and edit it, well, I guess you will just see new content, eh. :) Jarrett, I learned what the word "yenta" means. If you have Linux on your computer, one of the network card drivers is called Yenta. This is a Yiddish word for a gossipmonger, namely a woman gossipmonger.

An announcent, an ewok, and a coming out party

And for the announcement that everyone's been waiting for...
Hava now has officially been proposed to (and accepted) as of last wednesday. The official date is March 12. This means that Andrew, as one of the best men, will needs be being there. All the others will needs be invited and want to come.
My own Ewok adventure ended last night as I finally found a copy at Walmart. Now, you all know that I don't support said world wide economy ruining mart of greediness, but it was the ONLY place in town that had a copy. I watched Caravan of Courage last night and was reveling in the nastalgia.
I am announcing a new blog in the works. I will be showcasing my reading list, the dates I read them and also include a little snippet and recommendation. It is not up and running yet, but should be soon, so look for the officially coming out party announced on my blog.

Ok, I'm done for now. Thanks and congrats to the Jarrett.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

First off....CONGRADULATIONS Jarrett! That is sooooo amazingly awsome about your call!!! You get to go to Africa....do you have any idea how jealous I am of you? Probably not, since I really don't know. I just think that Africa is such an amazing place. Anyways...

I'm sitting at my home computer, freezing like a popsicle. The weather is very scary out there. My mother and I decided not to risk driving in those conditions. So, unfortunately I can't go back to Ogden until Tuesday (my ride can't leave until then due to the fact that she is working tomorrow). I shall miss you all greatly, but I think I'll survive. It will be weird missing classes for reasons other than being sick. Oh well. So, I can barely type now...my fingers are too cold. So, have a great week, and I'll see you on Tuesday!

Did someone say South Disneyland?

WOW! WAAAAAAAAAAY COOL! Jarrett, that is very awesome news to hear. South Africa seems so perfect for you to go to, just something about the ancient African culture seems fitting I suppose.

Jason, DISNEYLAND!!!!!!! Yippie!!!!! When do we leave, because you know that I will be going too. Okay, maybe I won't be going as well, but there are lots of waaaay cool Indiana Jones action figures there (hint, hint). Anyway, you'll have to ride the Jungle Cruise and Indiana Jones a few times for me.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet up with you this past weekend Jon, but with the holiday and all, it got kind of busy and impossible. Maybe over the Christmas break things will work out better. And your question makes even less sense to me now.

Re: Excitement and company

Well, Jarrett, this certainly was an appropriate venue for communicating your mission call, seeing as we've all been waiting to hear where you're going. South Africa is an interesting place. Yes, they speak English there. In fact, it's quite similar to the Queen's English, but maybe with a bit more of an Australian accent. (I have friends from South Africa.) However, be it an English-speaking mission or not, if you server out in Boonyville someplace, I'm sure you'll get to learn the local language. Congratulations, Jarrett, for getting your mission call. Your mission will change your life.

So, now I find myself just sitting here, perched atop a very squeaky chair with my black keyboard in my lap trying to think of something more to say. So, I guess I'll just say that pacing a train down the freeway at 70 mph is pretty cool. Especially when the train is going through residential zones along the way. Gee, trains are big!

Sighting of the day: A street sweeper truck converted into the world's biggest vacuum cleaner for vacuuming leaves out of the gutters. (I seriously had to do a double and a triple take.)

No, I'm not high yet from the pervasive smell of wood finish in my new office. I hate the hard wood floors because I can FREEKIN' HEAR EVERYTHING IN THE OFFICE! It's especially bad for me when I'm on the phone with a customer and someone else in the office talks. It is really loud.

Anyhow, I think I'm going to bed now. Chat at y'all later!

Yay!! I'm going to Disneyland in a week!! I'm excited. Jungle Cruise, here I come!

Excitement, Nervousness, Curiosity, Impatience

And other emotions I currently (and almost always, to be honest) feel.

Let me begin with the random and say, (iron rooster) would be an excellent name for a Band or Clandestine Organization or simply a way of saying, 'that's strange-seeming but is actually pretty normal.'

Now, as to why I am excited, nervous, curious and impatient.

This seems an appropriately delayed venue for the announcement of my Mission Call - since I assume no one will see this for a little while. I received my mission call today, and opened it (in a very reasonable, calm, dignified fashion. I made my family wait, ah, ah, ah).

So I've been called to serve in the Johannesburg South Africa mission. The mission includes the northern part of South Africa, as well as Botswana, Mozambique, and Lesotho. It's an English mission (no !Xhosa for me).

I enter the Provo MTC on February the 9th (a Wednesday).

So that's the news.
(iron rooster, eh?)

*****************

And may you all have a most excellent Thanksgiving, and Bach be with you. Remember to be thankful for George Fox and the Quakers and other Congregationalist groups (Such as the Puritans and Pilgrims(who were Puritans that went to Holland and then America)) who gave us this fine holiday, which Washington established, Jefferson did away with(his reasoning was actually good), and Lincoln re-established(again, good reasoning), and Roosevelt put on the fourth Thursday of November.

*****************

Let me say cryptically and on a completely separate thought that once again, there's one less I have to worry about.
(Sound bite: 'Savila se bela loza', a Serbian folk tune)

go STEW A RabbiT

This is just a short question for Jon...and maybe a possible hint for you Andrew. Is the person you're thinking of the actor who did a tv version of A Christmas Carol for TNT, and is also in a tv sci-fi series (another hint is in the title of this blog)? If I'm right or wrong, please let me know. If not for my sake....at least it will help Andrew close the gap a little. :) HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

N E S W (iron rooster)

In vane, eh Ben? Well, some games put a key in your registry which you could take out or modify. Some programs check your system clock and you could set that back if you have admin rights on your computer. Some programs register you with an online database through your .net passport or something similar so that there's nothing on your computer you could possibly do to reset it.

You could always purchase the full version of your favorite software titles, since that's the reason people put out demo versions. :)

Not quite, Andrew. I may be giving you a bit too much with this hint, but if I were trying to solve my complex riddle, I'd start with the bit about the star and the A Christmas Carol performance. It's not Bogart, though.

Today was a very excelent devotional at the Institute. That and the fireside with Gary Poll and Bro. Kent's last class were amazing.

Went and saw National Treasure last night with one of my best friends who I haven't done much with for a few years (even though the dude lives two houses down from me). That just proves that a movie doesn't have to have any of the crud to be an excellent, engaging film. It was one of the more edge-of-your-seat films I've seen in a long time. Some movies are more shock-value thrillers, but this kind was crazy-fun thriller. The bad guys were always just minutes or even seconds behind the good guys the whole time. The historical research that must've gone into writing the story was impressive. Reilly had hilarious lines and acting (like when they left the department store after finding the time on the bill and he was frustrated that they guessed his trivia bit), and Cage's character had a great line ("People don't talk like that anymore.") And I loved how they used so many of the national monuments as sets. There were only a few things that were not very believable (the actual Mission: Impossible antics with stealing the Declaration, and then the heroine's line about the scrolls from the library at Alexandria [how did she know by glancing at one corner of one scroll?]) but the rest was just great.

Ok, time for homework stuff.

Timer Reset

So, I was wondering. I get these free time trial games dl'd from the net and I'm getting sick of the time running out. I know there are some of you out there that have software that disables this and all my Googling to find some has gone in vane. So, maybe somes of you couldst help a poor fellow out! Eh? Eh? Eh?

Yay!

He he he he he.....I win. :) Anyways. I can't believe that it' s Friday already. I was ready to leave band and then it hit me.....I don't have school tomorrow, nor a football game to march in. I don't know what to do anymore! (oh wait...maybe I should do homework and practice....but that only takes up so much time) .....and my mind just went completely blank. Oh, so here's a weird thing that I haven't figured out. I went to my math class today at 10, and it was very cold, murky and I even thought I saw a snowflake fall. Just a few minutes ago, when I walked out of the Browning Center, the sky was almost clearly clear (don't ask what I mean by that....the sky was just really clear) and it was even warming up a bit. I've decided that Utah has bipolar weather. One minute it's pouring rain, the next minute, it's sunshine. So, there's my randomness (or lack of it) for the day. Enjoy! Have a great weekend and enjoy the nice weather we're having, it might not last too long.

So confused.....

Jon, is it Casablanca? I think I have the correct album and the correct television seial, but I can't see where the titles match up. Just tossing out this guess..

I am the barber of Seville!

That would be correct Jon, but you weren't supposed to use IMDB! That is cheating. I hope you can live with yourself after that shameful act.

Nah, just kidding. I would have done exactly the same thing. Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale wrote the screenplay to 1941 while they were still in film school.

Ninteen Hundred Forty and One

Is that closer, Andrew? And it was Speilberg. Hooray for IMDB.

Here's the music joke of the day:
Q: What is the definition of perfect pitch?
A: When you throw a soprano sax off a cliff and it lands exactly on top of the bass clarinet.

Well, since that failed to be funny, I'll sign off now. But I'll be back for more triva soon.

Wednesday, November 17, 2004

There's a fine line

between fishing and standing on the bank like an idiot.

There's also a fine line between poorly worded and obfuscated. The obfuscation was intentional. If I had worded it that way out of carelessness it would've maybe been poorly worded.

The movie transfer was just that after we downloaded film in the DPA lab that Mark Maxon decided that it wasn't an academic use of the computers and since he had to leave for a lesson he didn't let us dump the file to my hard drive before leaving. We'll get it soon enough though. Actually if you have firewire cable we could do it directly. Maybe I'll just buy one though. Then I'd have it, which might be handy.

Right on both counts, Heather. I might add this to clarify the answer. For more info on red sprites and other fun stuff like pixies, trolls, elves, blue jets, and more try this site out. And you thought that clouds were just marshmallows in the sky.

Ok, so more in the time that is called later.

Tuesday, November 16, 2004

What the?

Jon, your obscure question is poorly worded. I have no idea what the question is asking. As for the Oak Island question, too easy! You should take the link off the margin, then ask the question. The answer is 13 feet in diameter. I have no idea what Asimov story the two lines are from. Also, your answer to my question is not correct. Please try again.

You need to tell the story of film transfer day! I am intrigued and also wondering when I may get my CD to play with.

Okay. Don't forget to wash througholy.

I have a question...I mean, an answer!

Ok, the first question...the movie trivia....too easy! Jon himself said it in Jinglesthula. Now as to the second question...the science trivia...I am going to attempt to show my answer, rather than tell it. I found an awsome picture online (that's why). http://umbra.nascom.nasa.gov/spd/sprites.html
That's all for now (I'm not that smart right now...) Ciao!

Ding x 3

That is to say, we have a winner. Andrew, your second guess is correct. Han is the man. The instance is in the Episode IV Special Edition where Jabba visits the hanger where the Falcon is docked and Han says, referring to a group which included Boba Fett, "Look, Jabba, next time you want to talk to me, come see me yourself. Don't send one of those twerps."

So, yay for trivia. Also, I might mention that while movie trivia is fun we should have other categories and perhaps post questions and answers with the category name in bold, thus:

MOVIE trivia: What movie is this line from: "Is he the one that delivered the milk last week?"

SCIENCE trivia: Cousins to lightning bolts, red sprites occur near the edge of what?

MYSTERY trivia: The Oak Island Money Pit is how many feet in diameter?

TRIVIA trivia: What is the name of Pom Pom's rarely seen canine pal?

and this one I just can't resist and since it's so obscure, if you can actually tell me the right answer I'll buy you lunch at Gandolfo's or Jake's or the Pie:

OBFUSCATED OBSCURE POP MEDIA trivia: In the TV serial starring a man who has also singlehandedly performed Dickens' A Christmas Carol, sixteen episodes before the one which has the same name as one of the songs on Bela Fleck and the Flecktones' bass player's first solo album is one that has the same name as what interestingly linked movie?

ETC. trivia: And so forth...

YOU trivia: get the picture.

Except for those last two, I'll let the rest stand as actual trivia questions. Post answers as you find them. Andrew, I'm guessing either Used Cars or I Wanna Hold Your Hand for Spielberg.

Marching band uniform turn-in today. And getting Mr. Maxon's goat. Too bad. Too bad.

PARTING SHOT trivia: Those last two sentences were, aside from describing the film transfer experience today, also the last two sentences of a short story by Isaac Asimov titled what?

A long long time ago...

...In a galaxy far away, Naboo was under an attack.
Well, I thought me and Qui Gon Jin could talk the federation in
to maybe cutting them a little slack.
But their response, it didn't thrill us.
They locked the door and tried to kill us.
We escaped from that gas
and met Jar Jar and Boss Nass.
We took a Bongo from the scene
and we went the Theed to see the Queen.
We all wound up on Tatooine.
That's where we found this boy...

Oh my, my this here Anakin guy,
May be Vader someday later,
Now he's just a small fry.
And he left his home and kissed his mommy goodbye,
Sayin' "Soon I'm gonna be a Jedi"
"Soon I'm gonna be a Jedi"

I would have to guess Jango as well for the answer to Jon's question and if that isn't right, my second choice is Han (who else would use the word "Twerp"?)

The answer to Jason's Bond question is Liam Neeson, since none of you attempted to answer it (besides Ben). That means I need to post a question of my own....

Robert Zemeckis is a pretty famous director nowadays (Forrest Gump, Back to the Future, The Polar Express, etc.). Before he was famous and while he was still in film school, he and writing buddy Bob Gale wrote a screenplay for a very famous director. I'll give you a hint, the year the movie came out was 1979. What was the movie the screenplay was for and who was the famous director?

And alow me to add a shameless plug for my blog....
My reviews are all up except for "The Polar Express" which will be added shortly. I also have begun to make picks for Oscar Nominees which will be announced as soon as January.

Well, have a great great day and remember, you're only as clean as your underwear...

Whack-a-mole

Well, I really shouldn't be doing this right now, but that question has got me going. I'm going to take a whack at it....if I'm wrong...oops(no else has tried to answer yet). If I'm not mistaken it was his father Jango Fett. If it wasn't Jango, then it was Obi-Wan. Have a nice day!

Blog blog blog blog...

...blog blog blog blog.

Yep, that's what I'm thinking right now. I just have to blog. I don't know what to blog about. Well, I could blog about the fact that Desperate Housewives is not on this evening and has been preempted by the music awards. Hmmm. Oh well, not a big deal, I suppose.

I guess I could also mention the fact that I now have a USB hub for my computer, thus facilitating the simultaneous use of my USB keyboard, USB mouse, and USB CD writer. :) I love USB. It's a great system to use to connect devices. What's really cool about it is that you can daisy-chain 127 USB devices together and they will all work. Now, who in the world has 127 USB devices that they can daisy-chain?

Moving is a grand adventure. You never know what will be in store for you or what new things you might get to experience. Insight Software Solutions moved their office this past weekend. I, of course, helped in the move. We moved me into the front office and got my desk all set up with my computer Friday afternoon. Then on Saturday morning, I helped move the rest of the stuff from the old office to the new office. This included like five desks, four computers, a couple of printers, countless miles of phone and network cable, mice, keyboards, monitors, and paper. I don't know why they don't make nice CRT monitors lighter. Man, those big 17-inchers are heavy! Anyhow, it was a lot of fun moving that stuff around. I always look for something out of the ordinary to do with work.

Okay, I thought the band sounded and looked really good on Saturday. Sure, the game may have been a loss, but the band did well. And, to top it all off: we kept our energy through the entire game! I thought it was awesome!

After the game, I went and met my dad up in way North Ogden to take my sister's car back to her in Kaysville. It was nice driving another Saturn so that I can compare how the two cars drive. I must admit that hers drives better than mine. Also, if I had it to do again, I'd get a manual transmission because I really liked the way her car handled. Mine's an automatic and it seems to bog down easily, but the stick was easy going the whole way. The only thing about me driving her car is that I felt like a freakin' flamer because I was driving this little car with flower graphics on the windows. I hope no one thought that I was some weird guy or something. And, yet, even if they did, I don't care. I will doubtlessly never meet that person.

Well, I think I am done blogging for the evening. Must pay homeage to Clucky, our friendly neighborhood chicken who was captured by Animal Control last week.

Take it easy. I have no answer to the trivia question about Boba Fett as of yet. But, if I come across any info, I'll be sure to post it. Peace out!

Umm

I can't remember if I reposted this already, but here it is again in case I didn't:

Trivia question of the day: (and I quote)

Trivia time: Who was the only person in the Star Wars saga to refer to Boba Fett as a twerp? Post responses or just say them (preferably when someone is around to hear).

But yeah.... that's what it was. And it's pretty easy, especially with the way I worded it.

Good concert, y'all. Take a bow. From a string instrument. That'll get 'em hoppin' mad. Or maybe just take a bow. That might be better.

English.

Perhaps today

So I'm sitting here trying to get tickets for the choir concert. Internet is not the best.

Love is many things to many people. To me it has several meanings. The most important one is that when you love someone you desire their happiness and well-being. This is the love God has for us and the love we should have for everyone. It's almost the same as unselfishness. There are other kinds of love - love of parents and children for each other, love that a couple has for each other, love you have for your friends as aquaintences, love you have for a pet, and so on and so forth and so fifth, etc. Each of those is a bit different. Each of them usually includes familiarity by extended association, respect, and at least some of the first kind of love I mentioned. As Heather mentioned, it's too bad that so many people use the word love for so many different things, some of which are quite different from each other. Eskimos have n (not sure, but it's quite a few, like 50 or something) different words for snow. There should be different words for love like that. Charity is a good one and I think it's what the first type of love named above is. That way you could say that you love someone and not have people think you were weird because they would know exactly how you meant it and wouldn't think you were using the word in any of the other ways it is commonly used.

Well, I read about 1/2 of Alice in Wonderland last night. Whoever said that it was all mathematical and not nonsense at all was partly right. In the opening poem Carroll mentions that one of the three children who requested the story insisted that there be nonsense in it. (I suppose that Carrol could've just been being creative and the kids didn't get it and took it for fun nonsense and so requested more of the same since it was entertaining.) But there is definitely math in it. And social commentary, such as with the Duchess beating the child and severely calling it a Pig, which it became. And the math: The gardeners were numbered 7, 5, and 2. 7-5=2 I'll have to go back and re-read that bit to see if their comments to each other also suggest the same.

Oh good. The tickets are now available. Yay.

Would you like fries with that?

So, here I am, sitting in the computer lab trying to waste time until ward prayer. I want to email my friends, but all I can think of is The Moldau (sp???) by Smetena, that is running through my head. Just thought I'd let you know that. So, I've discovered that when you have short hair, you don't necessarily have to have a professional cut it. Why not cut it on your own? It saves money and you learn something new for the day. I'm all about learning something new! I'm not sure why I shared that with you, but anyways. So, who's ready to take on another week? I am! I think I finally cooled off from my semester burn-out. I'm not ecstatic, but I'm ready to get this semester over with and show that I have survived yet another challenge.

I've heard that at least one of you (Jon...or was it Aaron...I can't remember now, sorry if it wasn't you Jon) has seen the preview for the next Star Wars movie. My jealousy is beyond description. :) I have to admit that I am a big fan of those movies.

So, Jarret...do you really want to know what our opinions are of 'love'? I can give you a shot at it, but I'm not sure that it's possible to actually describe love. It's an emotion that is felt differently by each person. Some people say they 'love' something/someone, but it's nothing more than lust or an obsession. Others may say that they love something/someone, but that word does not even come close to what they actually feel, because there is nothing that can describe it. There is yet another 'type' that I could describe, but I'm not too great at expounding on it much more than saying that there is the unconditional love or charity that our Elder Brother has for us. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13) So, that's all I have to say. If I went on a completely different tangent than you wanted to hear, I'm not sorry for saying it, I'm just sorry that you had to read it. ;) Have a great week folks! See you all in the band hall! (I'm almost a poet!)

Poem for today

Poem: "Listen | 014," by Miller Williams, from Some Jazz a While: Collected Poems (University of Illinois Press).

Listen | 014

I threw a snowball across the backyard.
My dog ran after it to bring it back.
It broke as it fell, scattering snow over snow.
She stood confused, seeing and smelling nothing.
She searched in widening circles until I called her.

She looked at me and said as clearly in silence
as if she had spoken,
I know it's here, I'll find it,
went back to the center and started the circles again.

I called her two more times before she came
slowly, stopping once to look back.

That was this morning. I'm sure that she's forgotten.
I've had some trouble putting it out of my mind.

Stew

That's what I'm eating here at work for my dinner. And speaking of work, I'm applying for a web developer job later this week. I'll have to tune up my resume first, though.

Jason, that bit about the chicken was very funny.

Well, All Hallow's Eve Eve was a blast. Andrew and I had the same idea for costume-age without even knowing it. The RS&RB concert was also a blast. That is the second of their shows I've been to and I just couldn't pass up getting a couple of their CDs. I think I like Hey Hey Hey better than their Live! album, but I haven't finished listening to Live! yet, so I'll hold off on my opinion til then.

Horay for voting and horay for the candidates and issues that won the day. I haven't found out yet on all the ammendments, propositions, and so forth, but I hope things went well there too.

The future is comin' atcha. Look out! Be prepared. Be optimistic. And for goodness sakes - don't look down. At least when you're on a rope bridge over a chasm.

song of the day: Oh how I miss you by Ryan Shupe & the RubberBand (nice percussion)
event of the day: the gauntlet
hooray of the day: Bush winning
movie of the day: Arsenic and Old Lace
snow-filled divit of the day: the one on the practice field (this is, coincidentally, also the funny thing of the day)
post of the day: Uh... this post. I guess.

Happy Day After Election Day

Oh, what a great thing to be able to exercize my Constitutional rights to vote! It is such a privilege. I just can't see a reason not to vote when elections come, either local or national. After all, it is by us, the people, that our government is run. I know that there are those out there who feel that their vote does not count for anything, but it really does. I am even among those who feels, at least to some extent, that my vote was not considered. However, because I voted, I have the right to complain and change those things that I disagree with.

Anyhow, I just wanted to let you all know that they came and took my chicken away today. There was a chicken that ran around near my workplace for the last couple of weeks and this afternoon, the animal control came and picked him up. Alas, we won't be seeing any more of our chicken friend. Just thought y'all ought to know that. Chao!

Happy Election Day!

Well, the election is finally upon us. The word is that it is a record turnout this year. This may well be one of the most important elections of our lifetime. I just feel like I need to encourage you to get out and vote if you havn't already. The polls don't close til 8:00 tonight so there is still plenty of time.

As far as candidates, I plead with you to cast your vote for President Bush. The President has demonsstrated great resolve in the face of great challenges. The economy is recovering, 3 million jobs have been created, small businesses are thirving and he has made groundbreaking work on our Homeland Security. The President's record speaks for itself. He made promises four years ago, and every single one of them has been fulfilled. He is a man of integrity and a man who loves God and has a great spiritual relationship with the Lord.

On the other hand, you have Kerry. Kerry wants to make abortions be funded by tax dollars, he supports partial birth abortions. Kerry's plan actually costs 1.3 trillion dollars more than Bush's, but Kerry says he can balance the budget in TWO years despite that. He says rolling back on the tax cuts for the upper class alone will provide enough money, but if you think about it, that math just does not add up. He would have to roll back on EVERYONE'S tax cuts. Under Kerry, small businesses would not recieve the benefits and incentives they enjoy under the Bush administration. Kerry has proven time and again that he is a man that will say and do ANYTHING to get elected. He switched possitions on Iraq, gay marriage, no child left behind, and other issues. He even went as far as attacking Dick Cheney's family. What a bad man. Kerry wants to push Japan, China, and South Korea out of the peace talks with North Korea. Kerry says he wants to create strong foreign allies, but at what cost. In exchange for France, he would get rid of Japan. Does Kerry really represent YOUR values?

Just had to get that off my chest, but I really could go on. Anyway, go vote! And when voting, vote for Bush!

Happy Halloween!

Jason, your second question was too easy. I will refrain from answering since I already asked a question. I want to give others a chance to post a question.

So, today is Halloween, my least favorite holiday of all. I just don't like it. But, I like candy a lot, so it isn't a total waste. Ohhh, plus I love to dress up. Speaking of dressing up, I found this neat link (but it isn't technically a link since you have to copy and paste it to your browser):

http://www.starwars.com/kids/activity/crafts/f20041027/index.html

Totaly cool par-tay at Kristen's on Friday. We played a couple of rounds of paper phone with hillarious results (I swear it was an "N", not an "R"). Then we played Taboo and sat around and discussed the Band Hall (what else would be dissucssed at a band party?).

So, i guess that Jason has been out of the loop. Indy has long since been postponed. Been about a year or so since the news was learned. But Spielberg is filming a totally awesome adaptation of War of the Worlds starring Tom Cruise that is going to rock! Check out www.spielbergfilms.com for all the latest and greatest news on Spielberg and the gradual, snail like progression of Indy 4!

Well, I will be going. Don't forget that election day is Tuesday. Vote Bush!

Answer2?

Ewan McGregor

100% Vegetable Juice

This week has been full of firsts for me and I can honestly say...it's been great. I saw my first opera, Aida. That was so wonderful. The music was gorgeous and the cast was amazing. Tonight I went to my first institue dance (actually, the first dance I've been to since high school). That was an interesting experience...needless to say, our old, white marching shoes make for a good costume, but they are terrible dancing shoes (ouch!). And last but not least, tomorrow my roommate and I will be heading to Abravenal Hall to listen to the Utah Symphony play the Lord of the Rings soundtrack (and yes, that is what they are playing). I can't wait! This will be the first time I will have seen a real concert at Abravenal Hall (my only other experience was a 5th grade field trip that I barely remember). What a week! So...I believe that it is late (12:30am~ish) and I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow. So, for now I say farewell, until our paths cross again. Have a wonderful weekend and.......
Happy Halloween!!!!!!

I'll just take it in two pills

So, I am guessing from the lack of commentary on my trivia question that I have people pretty well stumped. Okay. Well, should I tell the answer or just go ahead and post another one? Hmmm. Decisions, decisions. (By the way, the music to the movie Enter the Dragon is very strange quasi-oriental sounding. Thanks ScoreStation.) All right, I'll give the answer away to my trivia question. The question was who was the person in the Napster's flashback who stole the disk out of his computer, thus claiming to actually have created Napster? Answer: None other than the Napster himself --Shawn Fanning. Go ahead and read the third bullet item on the list of trivia. :)

Well, I must inform you all that it may be some time before I can update my own blog because I recently moved my entire system over to Windows Server 2003. I simply swapped the Windows XP hard drive out and put in an unused disk in and loaded Server 2003 on it. I have spent the last couple of days configuring it and getting it set up as a fairly nice server. The only problem is that all my software is still installed on the XP hard drive and I hate to constantly swap out hard disks every time I want to run a program. So, I just have to install my web development software on Server 2003 and I'll be good to go. I just wanted to let you all know that I am moving up in my geekiness and have moved from desktop operating systems to full-blown servers. :)

Gaaaa! Indiana Jones 4 has been bumped back to 2006. Oh, I was so looking forward to being able to see Star Wars and Indy all in one summer. I guess I'll just have to make do with my trilogies of both films. :)

Okay, new trivia question: Who was the famous Irish actor who was considered for the roll of James Bond in GoldenEye?

Catch y'all later!

I'll take mine sitting on my head!!

Jon! If only I'd have known you posted a question a long time ago. How long ago and what, again was your question? Remember, I didn't have regular access to the web a long time ago.

I will be comming home for the weekend! Yay! I get to go to the par-tay at Kristen's house! What fun it will be, plus I have a really cool costume.

That's it for today. Sorry I don't have more to write. Vote for Bush!

Wednesday, October 27, 2004

Take this sitting down? I don't even think so.

thought of the day: Refuse to condone and thereby support things that you consider morally or ethically wrong.

Isn't that a great idea. If only everybody would do that. No person should be discriminated against. All immoral or unethical behavior should be. (Good greif, isn't that what laws are for - to "discriminate" against unethical and immoral behavior?) I leave it to the reader to make application of a broadly applicable principle.

Ben, in your last post you said something that I mis-read in a funny way. You said you were sorry for the loss of Weber State. I'm just glad they found it in time for school on Monday.

So, I forgot about work and got stuck in traffic today on the way back from my last lab. I also found out yesterday that photobucket reduced the space for free accounts from 100MB to 25MB. So if you were wondering why some of my blog pictures haven't been showing up, that's why.

La la la la. I can't hear you. That's the blessing and the curse of blogging.

I finally found a chicken sandwich I liked. Burger King's new Spicy Tendercrispy Chicken Sandwich. Mmm.

The first transport is away. _huzzah_ This brings me to my next point, which is that I posted a trivia question a long time ago. So far no one has even taken a stab at it. I don't know the answer to yours Jason, but if anyone knows the answer to mine, feel free to post it.

Someone brought 4 little cannisters of Play-doh to work and made a bunch of stuff with them on the lab aide desk here. And now it smells like Play-doh all the time to me.

Jason - new rootism comin' atcha: "What we need to do is keep our eye on the ball... where did the sun go?"

Ok, so now I'm going to log onto athena (WSU CS terminal server) and see if I can't learn something about putting together web forms in .net

'kay, bye.

Saturday, October 23, 2004

Now I get it! Leeeeets go....

Jason, your question is extemely hard! Well, for me it is, seeing as it has been a looooong while since I last saw that flick. I really can't answer it. But now, hopefully, everyone gets the idea with the ongoing trivia contest.

Weber State does suck (fooseball wise, that is). What an emarassing game for you. On the other hand, I'm watching the Utes beat the crap out of UNLV as we speak. 63-21. In other words: blow-out. Now the Utes are 6-0 and currently ranked number 10 nationally. It is very cool. Plus I heard the marching band practicing the other day and they were playing One More Time Chuck Corea. Brought back some great memories, but mostly reminded me of how much I don't miss being in marching band, and Heather, your comments just reinforce my disslike for marching band.

Ben, you had a sickly experience I take it? Well, you ought to read my review of Super Size Me over at my blog, then go watch the movie. You'll never ever want to eat at McD's again.

Okay, I guess it be time to go.

We're heading into head hunter territory now. That's not a good place to be headed.

Yo-Yos are great

I need to post a trivia question of my own, eh? Well, here goes..

In the movie "The Italian Job" (2003) when The Napster (Seth Green) is having a flashback to defend his position as the actual creator of the file sharing utility Napster, who is the character who removes the disk from his computer during that flashback?

I hope that one is not too easy. If it is, let me know and I'll see what I can do to increase the difficulty of the questions. I don't want to make the questions so hard that they are unanswerable, however.

Yay! We got to go home from the football game on Saturday after halftime. It was raining and Dr. Root didn't want all of us getting sick and didn't want to be saddled with a huge repair bill for the poor woodwind players' instruments. It was a bad game anyhow. At halftime, we were down 35 - 0. Weber really needs to get a new coaching staff. There were times when Weber was a powerhouse in the Big Sky. I don't think the players are bad by any means. I mean, those guys are playing there because they want to. It's got to hurt their self-esteem to not win any games. Seriously, I don't think the coaching staff is doing a very good job with the football program at Weber State.

Well, I must be going now. I'm excited because I get to go to a birthday party this afternoon for Kristin's grandma. :) TTFN

Oh hey, we're coming up on the Republican National Convention. It's okay to wave; they've all got their trunks on.

Weber State---Great? Great? Great????

Thanks to Dr. Root, I am at home and not freezing my fingers off at the pathetic game anymore. I've heard of bad teams before, but nothing this extreme! My friends and I decided that we should be proud of our losing streak...it's something to brag about. :) I have to admit that I find Weber's games very fun to go to, despite the fact that we lose every time. It' s still fun to shout and make noise. Well I think I'm done now. Until next time!

Slip or Trip

I'm sure that most and all are not surprised by the loss of Weber State today... and since I'm writing this before the game even starts, I'll eat at McDonald's if I'm wrong. And that's saying a lot, considering the experience I had with my last McDo trip. So, as my headline goes, if Weber Slips then I won't Trip (to McDo's) I would, naturally be wanting to go, only that I got a family thing and then got invited to spend the rest of the weekend with Hava's family. Saw Van Helsing again, pretty good flick. Saw Amelie again, pretty funny frenchiness. Reading Heart of Darkness... I'll tell you about it when I'm done. It's ok so far, but really hard to go through at any pace other than slow. Okay folks, I'm outa (money? cotton candy? birthday cards) here.

We have a weiner, er, winner, yeah, that's it!

Jason, you are right, but you never posted the next trivia question. Whoever is right posts the next one. That means you Jason! On Tom Sellick, you are half right. he was offered the role and was even officially (well, sort of) cast as Indy. He wasn't busy at the time since CBS decided that Magnum P.I. would not be right for them to start work on immediatly, so Selleck and Spielberg thought they were in the clear. When the CBS execs discovered that Lucas and Spielberg were vying for the star of the then shelved show, the rushed it into production to avoid potentially loosing their star. So anyway, POST THE NEXT QUESTION JASON.....

Now comes the most dangerous part of our voyage, our return to civilization and my attempt to ram the dock.

There's a Magnum in the Pi

Andrew,

In response to your trivia question you posted earlier on this blog, I would have to say that Mr. Tom Selleck. He was originally cast as Indiana Jones, but had to break off that relationship because he was busy shooting another role (one that he would become almost typecast in.)

About Halloween, hmmm. I'll have to get back with you on that one because plans are still a bit up in the air at the present time. Aside from that, I need to go to bed. Just thought I'd answer the burning question that has been on everyone's mind since 6:25pm.

TTFN

And always remember that if you enjoyed this ride, my name is Jason and this has been the Jungle Cruise. If you haven't enjoyed the ride, well, my name is Tony and this has been the Submarine Voyage.

Avoid getting probed!

Don't know what that title was for other than to illicit some kind of morbid curiosity. Well, its been a while since I put something here, so I thought I would just start typing and thus put something here. I don't know really what exactly I want to say so you have to endure my meaningless rambling for a moment or two until something comes to me.

So, I finally saw Napoleon Dynamite and you can check out my review either Friday in The Morgan County News, or you can check out my blog which is accessible via the nifty link to your left (thanks for that Jon).

Why are spiders creepy?

So, maybe I'll go watch a movie right now as I am taking a bit of a break today from studies (I need it). Is anyone else feeling the burn out yet? I would highly reccomend you take a day off from studying and just do something relaxing to you.

What are everyone's plans for Halloween? Is there anything in particular going on? What will you dress up as? Could I possibly ask anymore questions? Why don't we find out?

IDEA: TRIVIA QUESTIONS!
I will start this out by asking a nifty trivia question and whoever gets it correct gets to post the next question and so on. Here we go: Who was originally cast as Indiana Jones before Harrison Ford steped into the role?

Well, I seem to have finally put something here so it looks like time to go. Have a great day!

Constitution...Institution.... same thing, right?

The truth about the Colonies agreeing on the constitution is that it was, very possibly, the greatest comprimise in US history. The best thing, ( i believe) about it was regarding the slavery isssue. Obviously the southern states would not have agreed to it had slavery been condemned in it, but the wording seems to imply that all people regardless of gender and race are equal. So what's up with that, eh? I think the founders were a fairly bright group, despite deciding to get together in the middle of the summer in a closed room (no open windows even) wearing all their wool getup and wigs, in that they were able to provide a way that when the time was right and the people were ready, to address issues such as true equality - aka, the ammendments.

ohhh.... I've been spending too much time in my American Govt class.... I need to stop that. ;)

Kristin Schill

Let me Qualify

I would favor Prohibition, too. But it was, you cannot deny, ineffective -- not that it wasn't a good idea, just that it well, wasn't a good idea. I like Prohibition; but you can't legislate good behavior. Unless everybody agrees -- which is the amazing thing about the Constitution, about Colonial Amercia: everybody agreed! Very odd.

The Big Freeze

I just got back from watching The Day After Tomorrow. When it first came out, I thought it would be another one of those fake, end-of-the-world type movies that just make me feel like I've wasted my time. This is not the case for that movie. Besides having a pretty good cast (Ian Holms and Dennis Quaid), the plot was very realistic and the CGI effects (except for the wolves) weren't too bad. I'm a nut for seeing natural disasters (dream #1-be a storm chaser), so I loved the scene where LA gets ripped up by a load of tornados. The only problem I have with this movie is that it isn't a too far-fetched idea. If you think about it, the world's climate is slowly changing, who knows what could happen in the next 1000 years?! Well, I suppose I wouldn't make it in the the movie-reviewing world, but I tried....right? It's a good movie, and it's pretty tense, so if you have free time and haven't seen it, I would recommend it. If nothing else, there is very little bad language and no dirty scenes. Enjoy!

Oh, the geekitude...

Here is yet another great use for the wonderful, God-given power of USB:
An aquarium.

Both carry blades. One has mind tricks, the other, gold

A big hey hey to all y'all.

So band (no band) was fun today. I should've just slept the day away in on the couches on the second floor. I did manage to catch a few winks on the Orange Forum's namesakes in the TE building. (For those who don't know, the Forum is named after the orange chairs and couches out in the hall by the south lab.) Sadly, that didn't last a long time.

Jarrett, I think maybe you're right. I guess I wrote that out of frustration with people not caring about voting. I didn't stop to consider whether it would be an effective solution to the problem. As for Prohibition, I think it was a good idea. But otherwise I agree with you.

Well, time for study or I really will regret it later on.

WHOA FOLKS

Hold on one moment.

You speak (Jon, I believe it was) of the polls in Denmark -- that Everyone is Forced to go to the polls. Kristen Vesper mentioned the other day that they do the same thing in Brazil.

It seems like a good idea -- get everybody to vote, or at least say they don't want to. But it doesn't work. Kristen's account validated that. They all voted on emotional impression for Mr. Lula, who was once poor, thinking he could help the poor. Forcing people to vote cannot make them care; it cannot make them really understand. You can't force people to do things, because then you Really get crappy (I use the word rarely and intentionally) results. Forcing people to vote is almost as ineffective and impractical, especially in a country so large as the United States of America, as Prohibition was, or outlawing belly-shirts would be. You cannot Legislate morality. It can't be law to care, it can't be law to think about things. That falls into the charge of each person. And when the more part of people quit thinking, we get imperialism -- because those who lack self-discipline need more government.

So, that is my rant. Someday you can have my opinion on public Education and Welfare.

Just a comment about Voting

Did any of you read the comment in the school paper Wednesday concerning voting?

I accually couldn't tell if they were being srious about not voting if you felt that you didn't know anything. It seemed that they were accually advocating NOT bothering to find out ANYTHING about the candidates, and that if you didn't care one whit about it, that's ok too. Don't worry, your vote won't count for anything.

Perhaps they meant to be satirical. I couldn't tell. It really irked me though. This election has shown such a dramatic increase of voter registration. College students usually don't care about these things, they're to buisy, and they think, Why? it'll never affect me? Well, my friends, that's because they think that. it's self fulfilling prophecy.

Anyhow, i just wanted to vent. I have a hard time with a school paper who is accually advocating not voting. I agree with whomever it was that thought that Denmark does it right, where you have to go to the polls, even to mark that you don't want to vote. I believe it might make it worth some people's time to enlighten themselves a little. That and it gives them an excuse to complain about the elected official. I believe that if you didn't vote, you have not right to complain.

Comments

1. Tevyeh for President (When you're rich, they think you really know)
2. Jon, I WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend purchase of the Uncorked Soundtrack. I myself did so back in January, and though at the time I shied away from spending the about $20 after shippine, I have never regretted it. Excellent stuff. And Ross' Concert is a very, very catchy and very cool track.
2a. As you may have guessed, Jon (and Jessica, as she's seen it) Uncle Cullen is my hero -- one character in all the history of film-making I actually identify with.
3. I tried 20q: it got the platypus and the chili pepper, but not Buddha or the Tao. It was close, though. For the Buddha it brought up faith and friendship, and for the Tao it brought up freedom, joy, and vision.

And the politics go on...

I am in the process of watching the final presidential debates. I have never been so outraged by a comment then I have tonight by one of the candidates. The subject of homosexuality came up. I know that we are free to believe what we want, but I am so upset by what one candidate said that I have to vent. He said that both he and the other candidate agreed that marriage is between a man and a woman. He then proceeded to say that he also believes that some of us were made, BY GOD, to be homosexuals. I don't have any exact references, but do I know that the Bible and the Book of Mormon do not say that we were made to have that preference. God created Adam, then he created Eve from the rib of Adam. He didn't create another man, he created a woman. Man was made to love, marry and procreate with the opposite sex. I have been enjoying this debate, despite my being outraged; it's the first one I've watched with the real intent of learning something. Anyone who has the desire to exercise the right to vote should watch these debates. I regret not watching the others. A person can learn so much about who will be leading our country for the next four years by watching the debates. Thank you for listening to my opinions...if you don't agree, I understand, but I do not apologize for believing what I do.

In other news, it's amazing what sleep can do for the sick and tired body. I woke up this morning and felt terrible, so I've been sleeping all day. I actually missed not going to school, but now I have the energy and clarity of mind to go on. Thank you for the welcome Jon, I feel at home now. ;)

Well folks, I want to go listen to the rest of the debates. Have a wonderful day...evening, whatever it may be when you see this. :) And please understand that I am not attacking anyone for their beliefs, I just felt impressed to share mine.

Yeah! You're all gonna be in my experimental reality

There were a few good Rootisms uttered today. One about Dr. Root's early formative, impressionable years, and the other about graduation. And how... HOW could he? I mean, here I am, all excited about coming on Thursday and sitting through my 60+ measures of rest at the beginning of whatever song we play that starts with a P and he calls sectionals and says the percussion people don't have to come! "He wandered in loneliness, weeping a little for the hardness of the world..." - J.R.R. Tolkein Ok, I'm only kidding. :)

In other news, there is now a bit more text on my blog for the Europe trip. No more pictures as yet. I have to redo some of the ones I put up on photobucket since even the small versions have nearly overflowed my account limit. And I haven't even put them all up yet. I will hopefully be able to get some work done on them if I get my program done. I thought I needed to have it turned in by Saturday at midnight, but when I went to submit it, the instructor had extended the deadline til tomorrow. Oh, well, at least it's almost all done. I think it works, but I have to run it on Visual Studio 6 to be certain. Wish me luck.

Jason, I wholeheartedly agree with you. There were people that died to give us the right to govern ourselves and a huge part of that is voting. Not caring enough to go vote when it's the day of elections because you can't be bothered or because you don't think it's important enough is an affront to people who sacrificed everything for your way of life. I respect the right of every person to hold an opinion and to try to support what they feel is right. I think Bush has done a good job, but if you're a Kerry fan and don't vote for him then that I don't respect. I kind of like how they do things in Denmark. Everyone is required by law to at least show up at the polls. They can mark a box that says they don't want to actually vote for anyone, but they can be fined if they don't at least do that. Apathy in this matter shows a lack of appreciation of every good thing we enjoy in this land. Being America doesn't mean we're perfect or that we will ever have perfect leadership. But it does mean that we have something that many people have considered worth dying for. The least any of us can do to repay that debt is to do this smallest of all forms of participating in our more perfect union, governed by the people, for the people.

As far as the band blog being a forum for political discussion, I figure Hey! Why not? This is just an extension of the hall itself and we can discuss anything here that we might there. And speaking of our little forum here, I must extend a warm welcome to our newest blogger, Heather. If there's anyone else who wishes to hang out in the digital as well as the real band hall and post here, just send an email to the address listed above. Cheers! Juice! (What!?!) By the by, Jason - on the 200th post on this blog you mentioned a dessert. As I was reading that post just now I suddenly had an overwhelming urge to eat just such a dessert. My question, then, is this: Where does one obtain such a dish?

Ok, so until next time, here's blogging at you, kid.

This will make you even more political...

Now that I see I have political folks somewhat riled up (or at least seemingly riled) I have yet more stuff to point out from the debate on Friday night. By the way, if you haven't yet noticed, I support the President and think he has done a great job, granted he is not perfect, but nobody is.

Did anyone else get as angered as I did by Kerry's statement that he believes abortion should be funded by MINE and YOUR tax dollars? (Yes, he did actually say it and I am not making it up) I think that is the worst idea of the century. Why should my tax dollars go toward supporting a practice that I consider murder. Do you want to pay for murders? Neither do I. That is why my vote is going to the President. Bassed on the statements made in Friday's debate, I can guarantee you that if Kerry is elected, it will be the darkest four years of American history.

I decided to go home this weekend...I'm not sure why. So, I'm sitting here at my family computer (which I might add, is on something-I can't see everything on the screen...and no there's no way to fix it). I just practiced for a long time and my arm is tired (playing Jon Schmidt, amongst other things, can do that :o) ), so yeah. The weather is kind of gloomy, makes me want to go trick-or-treating. How about that, the screen went back to normal....never mind. I miss Ogden already and I can't wait to go back. I wish I was up there where my friends are...it feels like a ghost town right now here in little 'ole Dugway. Anyways, I think I better stop now. Thank you Jason for your insight about voting. It was nice to hear that someone actaully cares about it.

All about rings

Considering the fact that I'm hearing the political issues from all around this recent time and that I am, by nature, a non-confrontationalist, I'll not make comments on that subject. Just so everybody knows, I will vote and you will not know ever who I'm voting for.
Things in my life can't be better... and if you have questions as to why, just ask me.
Can I say that I don't like work, especially at Focus. It takes up too much of my time. Can I also say that I don't make enough per hour.
I'm excited for the DVD Gift Set for Return of the King. It has a special Howard Shore music documentary. I'm also re-reading the books because Hava invited me to go with her to her Lord of the Rings Philosophy class reunion over Christmas break. I'm getting into Lord of the Rings again, yay for me.

More Political Stuff

Kudos to all who have voiced their opinion politically in this very heated season. It is our responsibility as citizens of the United States to elect leaders who will be leaders. I am not going to claim pertainence to a particular political party or that I support publicly either President Bush or Senator Kerry. I believe that both these men have what they beleive to be the best interest of the American people in mind. I have to respect that. I just got done watching the 2nd Presidential Debate. It was quite a good debate. Both candidates were very sharp and knew what they were going for. When I watch debates like this, it only makes me more proud to be an American. How many people are there in the world who would give all that they posess to be able to have democratic elections? This is a great gift to us and we need to cherish it. Countless people have gone before us in defending the freedoms that we lazy Americans take for granted. I am often saddened that I can go to the polls and go in and vote and hardly see another soul there. I have heard reports that in some countries, when a democratic election is held, more than 100% of the population votes. That only means that people are going out and voting more than once! These people are so grateful for the opportunity that they are filling the polls.

With regards to your own political colors, I can't say that the Republicans are all right, but in the same breath, I can't say the Democrats are all right. The job that falls upon us humble citizens is to vote our conscience. We need to support the candidate and not the party that best reflects our personal values. If I were to say that I support the Republican party (which, by the way, I have been accused of before) I would have to say that I completely embrace all of their creeds and tenets. I can't say that I agree with everything that the Republican party embraces. The same goes for the Democratic party. It is my job, like I said before, to study the issues and make a decision on a candidate who best fits my opinions.

I feel like I have just preached a bunch on here and have been a political sort of rallyer with a mission to bolster support for some idea. I hope that I haven't been that way. I just see, especially in college, how people have this tendency to forget what it means to vote. Guys, if there is one message that I can leave with you, it would be to get out and vote. You probably have ancestors who fought or perhaps gave their lives for the freedoms that you now enjoy. Think of the American Dream. It's a glorious thing. However, it comes at a price. Nothing that we have came to us just because we looked good or something. Someone had to pay for it. We need to vote and protect the luxuries we now enjoy. I'm proud to be an American.

Terrorism must fall. It's not going to be an overnight, poof! it's gone, thing. The war on terror isn't really a war that can be won in the sense of winning a traditional war. It's sort of like the war on drugs. In case any of you have perhaps forgotten, we are still engaged in the war on drugs. But, in the terror arena, whether George Bush or John Kerry has the right plan is up to us, the people of this great nation, to decide. Now is the time to take the power into our own hands. Please get out and vote.

Whew! Had to get that out of my system. Hey, it's been great to see all the stuff posted on here by all of you! I certainly miss the companionship of the band hall, but as happens in people's lives, things change and we move in different directions. I have very little free time anymore, but that's okay. I still would like to get together with y'all and have a get-together, party-esque thing-a-majig. I wish I wasn't so blasted beat down after each football game. Keep in mind, y'all, that I don't play my trunket as much as I used to so making it through the game is a real chore. :) This is a fun band this year. I am glad to be at least superficially involved in it again. It was very hard to leave the marching band last year. It was hard for me to not be in the Symphonic band this semester. I keep the option open for next semester, possibly. :) I've got to get my trumpet fixed first, though. It got a really bad dent in it a couple of months ago and now it just plays differently.

Well, you all have probably gotten really tired of listening to me gab on. All right. Fine. I'll cease and desist. But, before I do, I must give another political jab. Please make sure that your Shockwave player is up to date and then direct yourself to Atomfilms.com. You should watch the films called "This Land" and also the newest creation, "Good to be in D.C." Hehehehe. I think you'll laugh at both.

Chao!

Hello

Hello, I am new in this blogging world and I'm excited to join, since I have nothing else to do right now. I am sitting next to my friend Jessica who just finished her own thing. I'm slightly excited, because my parents are coming to visit. Today is weird though, I have to admit. Only one class....what a day! I agree with Jess, it feels like we should be out on the field right now, but instead we're inside, writing complete nonsense that I'm not sure I would enjoy reading(at least my own stuff...you other bloggers have fun things to say, but I will get better at it, eventually). So, you wonderful friends of the band hall, I bid you a fond farewell (wait...I mean a good afternoon!). Have a great weekend y'all!

20Q strikes again!

This time I was thinking of the web-slinger:

I am guessing that it is Spiderman(superhero)?
Yes , No , Close

19. Is it man made? No.
18. Can it be easily moved? Yes.
17. Can it be trained to obey commands? No.
16. Does it live in cities? Yes.
15. Do you find it in the sky? Sometimes.
14. Have you seen one in real life? No.
13. Does it help accomplish tasks? Yes.
12. Is it usually colorful? Yes.
11. Was it used over 100 years ago? No.
10. Is it comforting? Yes.
9. Is it outside? Yes.
8. Is it commonly used? No.
7. Is it small? No.
6. Does it require specific knowledge to use it? No.
5. Can it be washed? Yes.
4. Does it use electricity? No.
3. Does it make noise? Yes.
2. Can it cheer you up? Yes.
1. It is classified as Other.

Check it out, yo.

Truly uncanny. Even though Spidey isn't an X-Man.

Ok, so now I'm going to do my homework actually. That way I won't die as much (gradewise).

Thanks for the political stuff Jon.

Cause, I like to be political. Especially when you are showing strong support for the President. It makes me want to show my strong support for the President too.

Ben, I know that you will forever hate my stinking filthy guts for this but there was a major news story about the draft rumor in the paper today.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2004-10-05-draft_x.htm

Copy and paste that link for a detailed story about how there is no draft, nor was there ever ever ever ever going to be a draft. Note the part where the President is quoted as say that as long as he is president, there will NEVER be a draft.

I think the President has held strong and stedfast in his beliefs, something his challenger can't claim. It is important that the leader of the free world has concrete beliefs and holds true to them. Afterall, you can't please everyone. If you tried, it would be disasterous. On the scary side, if John Kerry is elected, he will sign into law a treaty that would alow OUR troops to be prosicuted by foriegn judges in foriegn courts. Why would we want to hand over that much authority to foreign countries.

As far as nuclear claims go, there is a new report coming out today that links Saddaam to activly pursuing nuclear arms right under the UN's nose. And John Kerry says the world is a more dangerous place now that Saddaam is captured.

Okay, time to stop ranting.

Feel free

to be as political and religious as you want. If nobody were much of either of those our world would sure be in a sorry state.

And yes, I'm excited for the middle of the semester also. Especially because 2 of my 3 classes decided not to have a midterm. Woo who!

Andrew, I forgot and posted a bit about your ebay experience over on my blog instead of here, so you can go there and sort through the rubble of my collapsed writing skills to find that bit if you want to. I'm such a messy person, leaving replies to comments and questions all over the ether. But at least I shower daily. That's a good thing, don't you think? And I try to keep my car clean (shove all my junk into the trunk on a regular basis).

Now to work on the drumline show for this winter. If I don't, Billy will hit me with a fist on my face. Shoot English grammar with a rifle. That's what I just did there. And it wasn't even a clean shot, either.

I'll quit before I get further behind.

quote of the day:

Understanding Soldiers from Iraq

People think they understand
(but they really have no clue)
the life of a soldier
and what it is we have to go through:
Crying families, crying children,
“Daddy, please don’t go away!”
Smiling, you say, “Things will be fine,”
while inside you’re crying, praying to see another day,
fighting for those who cannot
and for those who burn what you swore to defend,
constantly questioning life’s purpose,
hoping it will all make sense in the end.
There’s no one to talk to
except the angels that guide us through the fire,
frozen in a silent scream,
being led by God’s divine power.

I have nothing to do
but wonder why I am here.
Is it out of pure patriotism,
or is it strictly out of fear,
the reasons why I do this?
For faith, sacrifice and love,
and to defend our nation?
When push comes to shove—
hunger, homesickness, anger, sadness, fear,
thirst, exhaustion, loneliness, and disgust—
sometimes I feel small, helpless, and alone,
in a world hard of finding trust,
with nothing to do
but wait for another day.
God is my refuge,
and to him I always pray.

We are soldiers; men of honor
holding steadfast and strong without fear.
Even though most of us soldiers
are not yet old enough to have a beer.
Even so, we will be haunted
by the images left in our heads,
by the phantoms, the ghosts
and the nightmares we will have in our beds.
You will look upon us as a child,
but men we are—more so than some,
and we will continue to grow
even when the fighting is done.

Always being asked:
“Why put yourself through that?”
If only I had an explanation;
If only they could think back
to a time long ago
when a Man suffered for all our sins…
Are we as soldiers
any different from Him?
Maybe then
their understanding may begin.

This goes out to Josiah Halverson, mostly. I think he's currently in Japan with his girlfriend visiting her family, but he was in Iraq. Ok, so, vote for Bush (yeah, he's not perfect, but at least he is doing something to try to prevent more 9/11 type terrorism, which Clinton didn't and Kerry prob'ly won't - and Bush won't pull out of Iraq and leave a power vaccuum that would only be filled by another Sadaam, because then it would be Kerry that wasted the lives that have been given, where Bush is making the tough call to sacrifice them for a good cause... now I'm being political), eat your vegetables, don't forget to brush your teeth, wear sunscreen, and please, please, don't play on the freeway.

Peace

Titles are fun....

....like going to the dentist.

Way to post Jessica! Awesome to see someone else around here besides the "regular four" (I guess they just eat too much bran is all). I am not excited about the mid of semester comming. I think my class of Spanish is not going well and fear that I will have to take it again next semester.

On the other hand (the political right one), be sure to hide as many copies of Farenheit 9/11 as you can when you go into stores this week. Its easy. Just grab a few copies and scatter them throughout the store (behind magazines, under store fixturing, inside pre-assembled furniture). This is so that Michael Moore makes fewer dollars from his propaganda film than he would otherwise. Moore is a very cunning liar and it is imperative that his message does not get out to others who believe anything they see if it is in a news format. Just because Moore makes it look like facts through his presentation, does not make everything he says gospel. If you have to see a controversial film this week, see The Passion of the Christ. It is a wonderful and powerful account of God's greatest love for mankind.

Okay, sorry to be so political and religious on you, but I had to get that out of my system. Ben is kicking my trash in football right now. I think he may be semi-psychic. He can see the truck before it runs over him! Okay, that was really bad. Sorry. Be sure to check out my blog for my latest review: "Shark Tale". Feel free to leave me a comment or too as well.

Eye, Eye!

I hate e-Bay. Why do people have to snipe you with less than one minute to go? Can't they just go find another auction of the same ilk? Can't they just NOT CHEAT?! I was bidding on "The Godfather Collection", a normally $60 item. I was just about to get it for under $25, but noooooooooo, some buttman had to go and bid at the very last second. Well, I learned a lesson from this: In order not to get sniped, you must be the sniper. Hehehe. I quickly found several other auctions for "The Godfather Collection" in my price range and have been watching them veeeery closely over the last few days. I think my plan will pay off, but only time will tell. I was just so mad from mister cheater that I MUST win one of these auctions now. Thanks for wasting your time by reading this.

Okay, the first attempt failed, but I'm going for attempt #2......

Attempt #2 failed too! E-bay has this really cool feature though, where you can "buy it now" on selcted items, so I found me a "Godfather Collection" for $29.99 plus shipping and went ahead and bought it. It was really starting to peeve me off.

The eyes have it!

Hey band, what do you think of Billy? He's here and wanted me to ask you.

cool cool cool stuff of the day: ASIMO

Vote Yes for 3. That's my opinion. To condone is a form of support, which I don't.
[Note: Where it said No before has been changed to Yes. I accidently typed the wrong thing at like 11pm last night because my brain was off.] Fortunately, inclination does not equal lifestyle (this applies to many aspects of life). The latter is by choice. Everyone has different weaknesses. No one has to act on them.

Hip hip who ray for good times. If I work real hard, I won't be in trouble later on with my homework situation. What a great thought by Bro. Kent today. And 2x ice cream wasn't so bad either.

Andrew, I don't know if Cory invited you, but I'm going to invite you anyways. We're throwing a Spider Man (the first one) party at his house tomorrow night at 8.

More stuff later.

EUPHOREA indeed!

Okay, I think I officially can't make this work. I did exactly what you said and my links appeared on the sidebar when I previewed my changes, but after republishing, I still can't see my changes.

On a different note, I made my Star Wars work by returning it and getting a new copy that doesn't skip. YAY! Now I can watch without annoyance. In fact, I just watched the commentary on Ep. IV and not even one measly mention of John Williams' Oscar winning score!

I have been adding my reviews to my blog, so if you haven't checked it out yet, do it.

Okay, just an update rather than make a new post. I just came back and checked my blog and IT WORKED! I feel so smart and computery now. Thanks for the help Jon.

The Mush Of Frozen Oceans

What a wonderful weekend it was. There was much fun in the movie watching of both Friday and Saturday. And Sunday was awesome. So far, I picked 10 out of 13 games with one left to go tonight. I'd hoped to make up some groung on Andrew, but it looks like we mostly picked the same teams to win; that is unless we picked different on the Monday night game. Anyway, I'm boring out my mind here whilst the band is marching, so I'm gonna go for now.

And Stuff

So sorry to hear about the SWDVD woes, folks. Those who missed out on the hike today, well - missed out. We even saw a relative of Dave Cox's hat. And we almost died. I stood on top of I know not what mountain, but it was a neighbor to Mt. Ogden.

Looking forward to Thusly and backwards (with fond recollection) to Napoleon. You're right, Ben. It was hilarifunny. Surely one of the funniest I've seen. I should maybe get a "Vote for Pedro" shirt. That'd be cool.

Ok. Laters.

No! Help ME Obi-Wan!

Jason! My DVD skips right around the same area in the film. I was wondering if anyone elses copy does this as well and it would appear yours does. I guess I will just have to take mine back since I don't have a PS2. Arrrgggghhhhh. Why does technology have to fail me yet again?!

Thusly

Just an announcement for y'all. The next version of Thusly the Wonder Hampster's adventures will be in the band hall forthwith.

That French Empire Esplosives Unit Movie

It was AWESOME and by AWESOME, I mean hilarifunny. I haven't laughed so much at a movie in a long long time. All who have not seen it, must. And by must I mean really really should take the time to see it.

Help me Obi Wan Kenobi

...you're my only hope.

Yes, that is a quote directly from Ep. IV: A New Hope. In fact, to be more specific, it's a quote from the DVD version of the film, recently released. Note the higher, more crisp, digital quality of that quote.

Yeah, Kris and I got the DVD set last night and enjoyed Ep. IV. It did skip on us for a bit during chapter 28. However, then we just put it in a PS2 and it seemed to work fine. I'm hoping that the disc isn't damaged because I don't want to have to deal with the idiot who checked me out. Seriously, I stood at the checkout counter for no less than fifteen minutes waiting for this guy to finish typing my driver's license number into the computer (or whatever he was doing.) But anyhow, it is a great movie. Yes, one of the greatest of all time. I love Star Wars!

TTFN!

That is to say, Andrew, I sympathize deeply with your plight.

By the by, ibiblio.com has the coolest 404 I've seen yet, next to h*r.

Andrew, try moving your three links up a few lines so that they show up just above the p id = powered-by a href etc. etc. etc. That should put them just above the "I power blogger" button on your sidebar.

Again, best of luck.

Randomness:
Lone Peak's snare line is pretty clean. AF's line is pretty good too. Lunch was good as was band. Putting a "kick me" sign on Ben was great - haven't put one of those on a person since about gradeschool. Time for homework

I hate computer programing

Okay Jon, I just did what you said, but my links are on the bottom of my page and really small. What did I do wrong? I have no patience for these machines.

Just add H2ML

Thirsty for links, eh?

Click on the template tab at the top. Then scroll down until you find the text that says

< !-- If you'd like, you could place footer information here. -- >

Take that out (it's a comment) and insert the following

<|a href="http://whateveryouwanttolinkto.comraderie">Click This Text<|/a><|br>

Of course, here in the post it shows up as an actual link, so I had to insert | characters in each tag. Remove them before use, and of course put the right URL in and whatever text you want.

Enjoy.

STAR WARS, NOTHING BUT STAR WARS, NOTHING BUT STAR WARS, DA DA DE DOO

That's right, Star Wars finally arrived. I sat down to watch Ep. IV night of last and I was pretty amazed at the picture quality. I didn't think it was quite as pristine as the Indy DVDs, but very close. Unfortunatly, I think I may have to return my set since the first DVD likes to skip a lot. I just need to try it in another player to see if my suspicions are true. Now for the changes: Jabba looks pretty darn good, but I could still do with out seeing him altogether. A few of the close-ups containing lettering on the Death Star have been changed to the "Imperial Font" and the detention corridor has been lengthened. Also, the dianogga in the trash compacter scene has a brand new eyeball. The speeder entering Mos Eisley has been re-animated to look better. That's about all I can remember. The only bad change was the Han/Greedo "shoot out". It now looks even worse than it did in the 97 version. Han Solo looks like a rubber dummy as he "dodges" Greedo's shot. Just awful. I should get finished with Empire tonight and hopefully Jedi tomorrow.

Ben, I guess I wasn't too specific about what I meant. What I wanted to know was how to put links on the side of my blog. The ones that are permanently in the margin.

It has been too quite aroud here as of late. POST THINGS PEOPLE! It will be boring here if you don't.

They call me Dr. Worm

Its getting quite lonely in this blog area. I mean, where is everyone?
I'm glad the 'storm' has blown over. Phew.
I'm happy to have a little excitement in my life again. Nothing like a new @. Speaking of, I ran into an @ of spring semester and was bashed yet again. Sigh.
Ok. I'm signing off now, no really, the ASL sign for off, you should see me doing it right now.
Andrew, to put links on your blog, there should be, on the create new post page, a symbol that looks like the world with brackets on top of it. If you click on that button, you should able to add links like the ASL one I just did.

Later and au revoir
