"The" question...

What ever will we, said band geeks, do now that there is no band to be geeks for? I was wondering about writing fun little songs that would consist probably of a percussionist, one or two wind parts (very small and improvised) and me... reading or singing (although I don't do the later very well) the words I'll make up. Man, you know, I get so caught up in the creative part and it never ends up happening that I want some things to just happen. Anyways, it'd be cool to like do that and then when school starts again, we could have little performances for random people at random times during the day. I think it'd be really really fun and cool and band geeky. :)
Ok, that's my band geekiness for today. See y'all later.

Jarrett's film was just about the funniest thing I've ever seen. It is the story of a monk who is entrusted by the king with the data tape which is promptly stolen by the theif who is betrayed by her master who duels with the hero who finally triumphs... and in the end everyone get's hotdogs.

It's got intrigue!
It's got stunt doubles!

I think I'll post something here "on" the blog. Matt, I'm sorry. I hope your self esteem gets better. Cory Jensen does not wear make-up. But he does have promotional pictures taken of him playing percussion. Ok, it was only powder so his face wouldn't be shiny when the flash reflected off his head.

Jeff.....! You promised to be good. So be good, or I'll Edit you.

But guess what, NOONE'S FREAKING BLOGGED IN DAYS!!!!! What' up? Did everybody's blog desire suddenly jump up and leave their bodies? Maybe it died with the advent of finals... but knowing band hall people, y'all'd rather laugh and be funny than do homework. Right?

Man, that was kinda funny, wasn't it. I still can't believe that hanging out with nothing to do turned into movie making. Well, that's the band hall for ya, huh?

Percussion Notes

Wow! Anyone go to the percussion concert? My self esteem was greatly tested. We should have a web page for Keippisms. He even thinks so. He made a comment pertaining to the hair that I no longer have on my head. It was quite humorous. He felt really bad after. I tried to get free lessons from it but he wasn't having any. Oh well.

The U and financial stuff

I went to the campus of "The U" yesterday for my academic advisor meeting. I was up there about three hours early so I could familiarize myself with the new surroundings, only to find out that the meeting was less than 15 minutes! It was still good to get up there and just walk the campus. I thusly decided to live on campus, not off. It would be far too hecktic to try to commute from ANYWHERE to that campus on a daily basis. I just hope I can get enough financial aid to pull it off. The FAFSA asks for all income, not taxable income alone, so I might be in trouble there. My folk's taxable income was about half of what their total income for the year was! Anyway, I will be attending tonight's performance of Carmina Burana. I hope it is good. I was at the rehearsal the other night and it sounded awesome, so I bet it will be just as good tonight.

Coming down the home stretch...

School will be out soon. Then I'll be building a porch, learning a choreographed swordfight, working, relaxing, hanging out with my friends from high school, downloading a lot of songs from Napster (fully legal, now), going to Europe, learning the guitar, writing the pit parts for next years field show, maybe buying some stuff, and just other stuff. Ok, now I have to get to work on my homework so that my summer relaxing will be bliss rather than regret.

Also, I'm planning on going to the Ryan Shupe and the Rubber Band concert next friday. I'll have to see if I can find a girl to go with me.

Actual Sign in Acapulco Hotel:

"THE MANAGER HAS PERSONALLY PASSED ALL THE WATER SERVED HERE"

we all played with fire when we were children.

You know how in the Matrix movies all the little people still plugged in are never relevant to anything, and the main characters just consider them moving obstacles to be pushed aside? I feel the same way.

Yo ho ho and a bottle of jolt makes for a happy code pirate

Joe's Last Request

Well, I'll be a-practicing like mad today and tomorrow and the day after tomorrow for the upcoming concerts. I really wish that we had just a few weeks more to work on our piece for Wind Ensemble. I think it would be a really fun piece to play if we just had a bit more time to polish it up a bit.

Today, Diego and my person went to Vista WebCT training. That's the new system that all the WSUonline courses will be through starting next spring semester. Fun stuff. I really liked the community chat/whiteboard feature. It was way cool.

There was an interesting post put up by Dr. Keipp on the greetings thread of Vista about sound. I'll have to ask him about that one sometime.

Poor, poor the general manager of the Abbey Inn in Cedar City. I hope they take care of the wi-fi system there to prevent nervous breakdowns all around.

I kind of dig my new job, but I'm a little unsure of exactly what I want to do when I grow up. At this point I think a fireman is out of the picture. Astronaut too.

By the by, Jason, I think the tagline of your website has got to be one of the coolest and funniest things I've read in a while.

Quote of the day:
As a logical fallacy, Wishful Thinking is an argument whose premiss expresses a desire for the conclusion to be true.

And, yes, the author treats the spelling of premiss in an endnote; the spelling is correct.

The lazy days of the weeks before finals

So, for Jazz band we had sectionals today. So, better than normal, the Trombones actually had ours... but it didn't last for very long. We worked on the beginning of Latin Schizofrenia. It ended up being really well. Then, my english class was cancelled today so we could work on our papers. Yeah, I didn't do anything but sit around the band hall and make funnies. It was great fun. Now I'm at work, where its very slow and I'll be going to Melanie's house for movies tonight. Yeah, a lot of lazying around for Ben!!! Yay for me.

Heads up

Andrew, talk to me and I'll tell you all about @bash, k?

What the H--- is @bash?!?!?!?!?!?

I would just like to know what a(n) @bash is. I too would like to partake in the fun and riddle-ness. That is all I have to say today. I'm a poet and I don't even realize that I am one.

There's no crime committed in hoping

So, Dr. Keipp offered the Jazz Band scholarship today and there were two takers. Me and Devon. So, Keipp has to now choose between us. Devon is certain that I'll get it, cuz the same situation happened last year and he didn't get it. Brennan is certain that Devon will get it because "If Keipp is behind it, no trombone will ever get the scholarship." But, just to plead my case in band, I calmly mentioned that my mom was losing her job and I wouldn't be able to pay for college next year. Maybe the hardship case will win out, but, you know, " "(refer to title).

Bit-o-humor for today

Step 1: Open your web browser.
Step 2: Go to www.google.com
Step 3: search for "weapons of mass destruction" (but don't include the "" in your search terms)
Step 4: Click the first link available.
Step 5: If that doesn't work, just follow this link.

You have to read the page error carefully. The links are humorous too.

Ok, that was fun. Jon and Jarrett already figured it out, but hey, I liked it, so here it is. My @bash of the day. Jason, talk to me at school and I'll explain @bash to you and Kristin so you can partake in the fun and riddle-ness. Anyway, I had a great weekend in Las Vegas. We saw a hockey game and I didn't get to go out with the girl that was described as "good eye-candy... tiny, but with a huge rack." That is a direct quote from her friend that is a girl, just in case some of you got offended at me being sexist. Anyway, I've moved onto yet another book. This one will be a hard one to push myself through, so I'll probably be starting to write a book before I finish reading this one.

Have You Ever......?

How many "Have you ever........?"'s have you heard in the past month?
It's amazing how common a phrase this is, and yet nearly no one will have ever.... ever to whatever you said.
So if you've had any good have you ever's lately, share them.
Joke for chemists: If a mole of trees fell, and no one was around to hear it, would it still make a noise?

Have you ever been in the mood to simply use the precious bandwidth on the internet for no other reason than to simply use it? If Only the Band Hall Could Talk!

"To solve the puzzle..." or "From 60 to 0 in 2 weeks" A post by Jon

Ask ben about the @bash's. He is in charge of them and herds them around like his own little flock of sheeps. When an @bash starts to stray, it's ben that will thwack it on the noggin. Several of mine he has been instrumental in bringing into line. Because an @bash that is out of line, well, it just gets NO school lunch. And no cutting in line either.

Bit of somewhat randomness for the day:
In honor of first aid and what it can do for a person... Sometimes a bandaid is just not enough. And crying seldom remedies a heart attack.

Welcome to Morganites

I would like to take a second and officially welcome our friend from Morgan, Andrew Schvaneveldt. *Applause for a second* Okay, time is up. :) I don't have a whole lot to say, but I do want to know where the @bashs came from. Rather, I would like to know the origin of the title. I'm still craning my brain on the riddles themselves. Hmmmmm. Anyhow, I'll see y'all. Take it easy.

Thursday, April 08, 2004

Tadaaaaaa!

I don't know why I put that for the title of this post, but I just did. Shim-wha! and Stained Glass today in percussion ensemble. My hat is off to ben for the first two of his four @bash's. The first two were ingenious. The last two I got, but they didn't make as much sense as the first two. Way 2 go Ben.

In other news:
Jason, your bloglink is now updated.
And now I really need to be doing calculus so I don't die tomorrow when I have to spill my acquired math knowledges back from my brain onto the test. Poor, poor my noggin. Oh well - what can you do?

Wednesday, April 07, 2004

Hi, Everyone!

Well, I'm away for a whole week and now I'm totally confused. Jon's riddles left me scratching my head. I think we all know who the second riddle refers to, but I can't for the life of me figure out the second one. So, anyway, I recently spoke to the wonderful Chelsey. She has to move in the middle of May, so I'm bummed. Now I'm starting to feel what Ben was feeling a while ago when Kristi left. She did say she would like to do something before she goes, and I could always visit her when I'm in Logan. Other cool news is that I am meeting with my academic advisor at the U this month! It is getting near-er. I really don't know what else I could possibly say. Sears sucks. There, how was that?

Movie of the day: First Knight
Album of the day: Jurassic Park
Web page of the day: Spielbergfilms.com
Word of the day: foliage ;)
Thought of the day: Scientists have shown that the moon is moving away at a tiny, although measurable distance from the earth every year.
If you do the math, you can calculate that 85 million years ago the moon was orbiting the earth at a distance of about 35 feet from the earth's surface.
This would explain the death of the dinosaurs...the tallest ones, anyway.

This blog entry was brought to you by the letters E and D and by the number 4 and by a generous donation from viewers like you.

Two new @bash's for ben

And both of them have some problems. That incredibly difficult third word!!! Well, on one of these, it's simply misspelled. On the other, it's kind of more like two words only the second word is an acronym. I'm sure I'll get better at this when I stop trying so hard. Anyways... here they are:

Pal
valiantly defending in
velocity near planet
known.

Only if I'm with
real good friends
probably then will I start
vying.

Four lines is what I was going for on both counts. I think any more than four and you just start making things really difficult. Three might even be better, but then the more lines you have, the better the "poem" can be - and more descriptive also.

Enjoy.

P.S. They both describe people. See if you can guess who they are. One is someone we both know. The other is a pair of fictional characters.
The poems should provide clues to help you figure out who they are.

P.S.S. (yes- post script script) - The locker-warming party was the best. We should have random "parties" every day in the hall there. Maybe with a grill and burgers or something. The balloons added quite the nice touch. Thanks one and everyone who participated.

An answer to both riddles...

Let's see... hmm. Fishbones, goblins' teeth, wet shells, a bit of bat-wing, a stone to sharpen your fangs on, etc. And to jason, if you'll post the link to your new blog I'll update it both here and on my own blog. (for changing links on your own blog, ben is right: template tab is it)

Peace

Monday, April 05, 2004

An answer for a question.

Well, Jason, my man. If'n you go to your blog, there's a button that'll say template... er something like that. That'll get you access to the code. :P
Now, here's on for you. What's in my pocket?

How the H - E - Double Hockey Stick does one update links?

All right. I am noticing that the link to my blog still points to my blogspot page. This needs to be updated because it is incorrect. My problem is that I can't remember how to do it. All I need is access to the friggin' HTML to simply update the link. How is this accomplished?
