It ought to be an...

...Olympic sport. Okay, right about now, several things could be running through your head that might be good candidates for Olympic sports. Things like Olympic lawnmowing, or Olympic Slinky walking, or maybe even Olympic needle-in-carpet avoiding (try that with bare feet at night)... And while those are superb examples of activities to suffer from wholesale discrimination by the IOC, they are not what I have in mind for a new Olympic sport. What I'm thinking is much more far-reaching than those. This sport is truly on Olympic scale. In fact, there are no out-of-bounds because the entire cosmos is included (no, it's not Olympic starship captaining, but good idea.)

The sport I'm suggesting is Olympic 404-error finding. The person who can document the most creative 404 errors in a certain time wins. Of course, there would be a panel of judges to determine the creative content of the found 404 pages. Think about it. We all know what a IIS 404 error looks like and what a standard Apache 404 error looks like. But, sometimes, folks get really creative and put up really cool 404 errors, like this one. It has been my experience that the more creative and less "corporate" the site is, generally the 404 page will follow suit. So, I think we should have contests to see who can come up with the most 404 pages in a certain amount of time given a consistent Internet connection speed.

Just a thought.
